Rattling around
Tuesday, October 25th, 2005Over at Bugsie and Grampa’s the other night for dinner. BTW, now it’s possible to get high resolution versions of some of these photos (more to come), and even (if in the USA) print them (they arrive in the mail)!
What’s the catch? You’ll have to sign up for a free Flickr account, and then add earth2marsh as a contact. Once you’re added to the family list, you can print photos of SMG. If you want a photo in high res, but it hasn’t been uploaded yet, let us know and we’ll add it!
RSS in your future
Tuesday, October 18th, 2005We’re still taking and posting lots of photos, but we’ve been a little slow on posting text, which makes it harder to stay plugged in to SMG’s life. If you want to stay informed of changes, RSS (here is some info) is the answer.
Be the first to know about updates! The simplest way is to subscribe to the updates using RSSFWD, which will send you an email every time there is a new post on the blog.
But there are better ways to use RSS. I use Bloglines to keep in touch with RSS feeds from all sorts of sources. Bloglines is a free online service that lets you subscribe, organize, and track all kinds of information. Google has a feed reader in development too. You can see a bunch of options by looking at the buttons down the right hand bar of this page (MSN, Yahoo, NewsGator, etc).
There are stand news readers too, such as feed demon, or you can use Firefox, Thunderbird, and perhaps even Outlook with a plugin to manage your feeds.
Still reading??? If you’ve heard me talk tech recently, you’ve probably heard me mention Flickr. You have also been warned that it is digital crack. If you are interested in Marsh’s non-Sullivan photos, find them here.
At the movies
Tuesday, October 18th, 2005You asked for it–movies! (Well one movie at least for now.)
However, you’ll need to download and install a codec to be able to see it. The Intel Indeo 5.x codec can be downloaded here. Pay attention to where you save that file so that you can run it once it has downloaded! After you run it, you should be able to play the movie without any trouble…
Except if you have a Mac, in which case you can try to boot in OS9 and use Quicktime 6 with the Indeo plug-in, or find a friend who uses a PC.
Let us know if you have any troubles. It’s worth the effort to see Muggins in motion!
