Week 4 – Day 24

Monday, June 13th, 2005

Auntie Kate arrived back in New Orleans to Maine-like weather, while we’re suffering with what they usually have. SMG hung out in his diaper all day. We wished we could do the same. Today’s big accomplishment was planting grass and garden seeds in the evening when things began to cool off and when Sullivan finally caught some zzzz’s in his swing.

Bonus – see if you can guess which former babysitter in Augusta drew Marsh’s blood today at the doctor’s office? (Hint: think long, plastic fingernails)

Week 4 – Day 23

Sunday, June 12th, 2005

Sullivan has inherited his parents’ love of food and perhaps food shopping too. We stocked up on groceries on Sunday, and we were thankful for the air conditioning. The baby has some heat bumps and had trouble getting comfortable in Sunday’s heat and humidity. It didn’t slow his appetite, however…

Week 4 – Day 22

Saturday, June 11th, 2005

This morning we went for a walk to Bakery 158 for scones and then on to Willard beach. The temperature crept over 90 degrees this afternoon. Even simply walking was enough to make one break a sweat. We also stopped by to see Sheri and Noah in their new house.
296
We squeezed in a little more gardening before Auntie Liz arrived to meet her first nephew. She finished her last exam at school today and is now home! We hope to see much of her in the next few weeks.

293
Sullivan ate voraciously all day long, which gave Mom a chance to chew his nails. We are certain that he is over eight pounds now and seems to have grown an inch as well.

Week 3 – Day 21

Friday, June 10th, 2005

If you live in Alberta, mark you calendars! The Sullivan, Teressa, and Marsh Great Baby Tour is coming to Calgary July 16th.
287
Sullivan helped his Dad search the internet for good fares.

Week 3 – Day 20

Thursday, June 9th, 2005

283
Sullivan went to school today–with Mom (and Dad too). All the teachers at Canal were excited to meet him for the first time. We stopped by the teachers’ lounge at lunch time to catch everyone.

285
He’s not eating vegetables yet, but this evening Mom and Dad finally planted half of the garden. Sullivan supervised from his Graco babyswing.

Sullivan would like to wish his Auntie Sheila a happy 30th birthday!

Week 3 – Day 19

Wednesday, June 8th, 2005

276
Sullivan began his day with some “tummy time” with Dad. Imagine Dad’s surprise when SMG managed to roll onto his back on his own! Much like last week’s laughter, we’re still waiting for a repeat performance.

274Keith brought Sullivan’s friend Noah by for a visit this morning. Teressa bravely took both infants out for a walk with Noah in the stroller and Sullivan in the Baby Bjorn.

278
At the end of the day Granny stopped by for a last visit before flying home. Enjoy the photo of four generations, two girls and two boys.

Week 3 – Day 18

Tuesday, June 7th, 2005

270
Sullivan visited his paternal grandparents’ house for dinner with them and his great grandmother. We were treated to a Maine meal of lobster–Sullivan got his in liquid form.

272In the hours spent gazing at Sullivan, we’ve been able to see a few traits from each of his parents. The latest fascination has been his ears. Notice in the photo below that his ear is in the center, with his parents’ ears on either side. Tell us what you think in a comment whether “A” or “B” resembles Sullivan’s ear more! Can you guess which ear is Mom’s and which is Dad’s?

Week 3 – Day 17

Monday, June 6th, 2005

255Sullivan met one of his great grandmothers today. We’re not sure whether Sullivan was more taken with Granny or Granny more taken with him.

Week 3 – Day 16

Sunday, June 5th, 2005

Sullivan ate all morning (and afternoon, and evening). It seems he has hit his two week growth spurt the doctor told us about. He paused long enough to make a trip to Bugsie and Pops’s (still trying on names) house to visit a little more with Auntie Kate.
247
We took Kate to the airport on our way home to Cape Elizabeth. She didn’t want to get out of the car, and there may have been some welling-up as we said our goodbyes. Sullivan is allowed to grow–just not too fast before she and Uncle Scotty make it to Maine in August.

Be sure to check out the series of Sunday portraits of Sullivan.

Week 3 – Day 15

Saturday, June 4th, 2005

236Saturday was gorgeous. After a cold, wet spring the weather finally heated up and hinted at summer. We hated to spend the day indoors, but we had to find Daddy a desk so he can move his office out of the living room.
